We were given the brief to refurbish existing old hospital and transform it become “iconic” architecture of Columbia Asia Hospital. The structural element employed was relatively simple, it derived elegance of the building from the intricate language of detailing works. The approach was to create balance between satisfying the complex functional requirements of an efficient compact hospital and the creation of an easily recognizable and “iconic” architecture for Columbia Asia Hospital....
The interior is a neutral hue of background white with accent colours in certain areas. The interior ambiance is fresh and therapeutic yet hygienic. The interior benefits from abundant natural lighting. The intensity of light is controlled and filtered by architectural planes of different materials, textures, and colours. When light passes through or is reflected from these planes, different light qualities are produced as required for specific areas.
